Mr Brainwash! "Life is Beautiful" 2012

Mr Brainwash, AKA Los Angeles film-maker and pop artist Thierry Guetta, held a free exhibition this month in The Old Post Office Sorting Office in Londons West-End.
The cavernous space lent itself perfectly to the artwork....it was fantastic!
MBW has spent the past decade following and filming the most renowned street artists of the century. He then hit the streets from Los Angeles to different parts of the world with spray painted stencils and posters of pop art inspired images.
Here are a selection of my favourite pieces from the exhibition....

Blek Le Rat!

Blek le Rat - AKA Xavier Prou and godfather of street grafitti stencilling is showing some new studio created pieces in the Opera Gallery on New Bond St. My favourite work was the one outside the gallery on the hoarding....

....although I enjoyed the other works, they didn't feel raw and cutting edge enough in the safe surrounds of an upmarket gallery. They would have looked nicer under Waterloo bridge or on a dirty wall of a derelict building!

The Opera Gallery was also hosting some other unique pieces alongside Blek Le Rat..
..including David Mach coat hanger Marilyn Monroe sculpture - wonderful!
Very Alexander McQueen - a skull fashioned out of thousands of porcelain flowers by Joe Black.

We're watching you!

Was disappointed today, when I went to find, Banksy' latest graffiti art:
A pair of vigilant ostriches - one with a CCTV head!
They were on the side of the National Gallery, but had flown away by the time I got there!

The last Banksy that I tracked down was in 2008 in Bethnal Green

Cans Festival

Cans Festival was a Street Art event that took place under Waterloo Bridge in London in 2008. On the day the tunnel gallery opened to the public, thousands of people queued for hours for get a chance to see the eclectic mix of spray can artwork. I loved it! Meanwhile, in Bethnal Green another Banksy appeared, which I hunted down to photo before it was tagged!
