Beautifying my Bathroom cupboard!

Before and after!
I recently had a large bathroom cupboard built....practical but not very pretty!
I gave it a mini make-over to "beautify" it, using a vintage rose door handle and left over wallpaper!

Dandelion Clocks

I'm always on the look-out for odd bits of furniture. I bought these uninspiring, but useful looking drawers from Oxfam, Islington, to store my tools and paint brushes.
Having seen an inspiring exhibition at Zandra Rhodes Fashion & Textile museum in Bermondsey, which featured prints from the 50's, I really wanted to update the unit using "Dandelion clocks". I sourced the print, carefully mixed some paint to produce the perfect shade of green and then slowly transformed the piece into a pretty, 50's retro storage unit.

Lingerie and silk stockings!

I love upcycling furniture. The plainer & duller the better, as the end result is more satisfying! Unfortunately, the gorgeous chest of drawers that I found at an antique fair, would not fit through the slim front door of my lily pad! Therefore, I was forced to buy a soul-less, modern flat-pack item, which I then slowly transformed.
Before
The design was inspired by the "Great Gatsby"; I loosely wanted to create a feminine, Victorian-meets-1920's boudoir piece - something lush to put lingerie and silks stockings in!!
After:
Farrow & Ball paint used
to cover all traces of the blue wood stain
Detail:
William Morris wallpaper
Antiquer drawer knobs

Floral lighting!

OT would rather view the flowers in the garden.....!
I dislike strip lighting and harsh, bright lights. I light my lily pad with atmospheric lamps and candles. The above was a modern, silver Ikea standard lamp that I had owned for many years, but no longer used. Rather than discard it, for fun, I decided to give it a lick of paint and add some extra pieces to transform it into a sunny daffodil! I won the vintage mahohogny lamp stand and floral rose shade below on Ebay.

Tea and cake?

I found this semi-antique tea-cup and saucer whilst rummaging in the rain in a box outside another of my favourite stalls in Camden Passage in Islington. I made it into a dainty pin cushion. Cake always goes well with a nice cuppa - so I got out out the wool and a few "knit-one-purl-ones" later, the cupcakes (or as some friends like to call them - titty cakes) were ready to be iced!
