Beauty in the Mundane

Singles, 2006
Japanese artist and Brixton resident, Tatsuya Kimata, transforms everyday objects such as light switches and cups into beautifully carved objects in marble. A pair of crumpled socks made of matt white marble is now on display in the Saatchi collection. Kimata reasons that there is beauty in the mundane. "I don't want to be funny but, at the same time, I don't want to be too serious" I would love to own one of his unique pieces!
