Levenshulme Antiques Village is located in an old red brick victorian town hall, full of character. It still has its original green wall tiles, mosaic floors, stained glass windows and solid oak doors with "surveyor" or "overseer" etched into frosted glass panes.
Where civil servants once sat alongside filing cabinets & ledgers, dealers now sit surrounded by furniture, collectibles & eclectic paraphernalia from a bygone age. I was looking out for anything that took my fancy, and found an old plant/candle stand with a cornrow base. Northern traders seem to be more open to haggling than their southern friends; I got 25% off the marked price.
Items of particular interest that I spied today were an antique washing machine, lots of pub memorabilia, historic toys, hand carved wooden wardrobes & old shop signs.

The village is open 7 days a week and even has a nice café. www.theantiquesvillage.com
